The Company

My client is a well recognized large NZ company that has multiple brands which most New Zealanders would associate with. This is a company that is more complex than one first thinks with lots of entities and service offerings. Due to the size and nature of the business, the Finance team is expanding wit the newly created position of AP&AR Manager to report directly to the GM of Finance but be well supported by the Group Financial Controller.

The Role

The role of AP & AR Manager will have the following responsibilities:

The Team

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations.
  • Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly deadlines are met.
  • Ensure a high standard of quality work is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure all processes are well documented.
  • Works effectively with other areas within the Finance team and across all other divisions of the Company.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training and ongoing coaching of staff.
  • Annual review and KPI setting for the Team with regular reviews throughout the year.
  • Liaison with the auditors to ensure all audit requirements are met.
  • Assist in maintaining the financial applications used by the Team.
  • Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned by the General Manager - Finance.

Accounts Receivable

  • Ensure invoices are generated in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all receipting is actioned in a timely manner.
  • Review of debtor ageing on a monthly basis to highlight debtors that need to be escalated to both the General Manager - Finance and/or the divisional General Manager.
  • Liaise with the organisations debt collection agency in instances of bad debt and receivership and liquidation.
  • Review assigned Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis ensuring all reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.

Accounts Payable

  • Authorise credit applications.
  • Follow up with all staff to ensure workflow invoices are authorised in a timely manner.
  • Streamline where possible the processing of invoices for those creditors who have high volumes.
  • Maintenance of the Kofax OCR reader.
  • Review assigned Balance Sheet and supplier statement reconciliations on a monthly basis ensuring all reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.

Bank Reconciliation

  • Ensure all branches are banking on a daily basis.
  • Review the bank reconciling items on a weekly basis to ensure they are cleared in a timely manner.
  • Review and sign of the bank reconciliation on a monthly basis.

Branch Banking

  • Ensure Branch Banking Summaries are posted daily.
  • Ensure the "Unders/Overs" are followed up with the responsible Centre where necessary.
  • Ensure this team operate an effective help desk function for the Centre and Agent network.
  • Review assigned Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis ensuring all reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.

The focus on this role will be managing and directing, with the ability to provide leadership and ensure a culture of commaraderie and performance.

Your Profile

To be considered for this role, we are looking for an experienced Manager who has managed teams of 7+ previously. It is essential you have experience with both the AP and the AR function. You will need to be strong on systems & process improvement - the organisation does have multiple systems as it is a complex environment, therefore you will have had experience in something similar.
